E-utopia … at ATHINORAMA!
Editor’s choice – Utopia taste in Kifissia
The small, friendly shop is full of surprises from many corners of the country, like the mastic liquor from pixaria (small mastic tree) of Monogioudis from Chios, homemade sauces and chutney Stella’s from Xanthi (fig with basil and ginger, grapes and red wine, for example), sour cherry and vanilla from Ikaria, jams and pastries from the “women’s cooperative of Kokkinogia, Drama” the excellent legumes “ALITHINO”, the organic wines “Iliogennitos”. From this area it was missing, it is true, a shop with selected Greek food products.
E-utopia started a few months ago as an online store for Greek products from small producers by three young people, Fotis, Eugenia and George, who laid the aim to combine the authentic flavors with an efficient service. From different business streets, they were met at the crossroads of their common love for the authentic and unpretentious. Not long to set up and the “natural” space, two months ago in Kifissia. The conversation with Fotis, reveals me the love of the team for the natural quality, which led them to fill their shelves with products chosen one by one with their own criteria. “We looked for producers who resist in modern methods and apply the purest ways of processing, we identified unique aromas and flavors, drifted from utopia to convey to the real world the simplicity of our childhood”, give their identity by themselves. Known and renowned labels meet new discoveries and make an interesting scenery enriched day after day while soon they will have fresh vegetables from their own crops. We found the pasta Terpnon, green olive oil Ladopetra, the excellent vinegars Wisdom of Nature, pickles from Aridea, products Viosito, concentrated fruit and of course, jams Idiston, selected nuts, homemade liqueur in a wide variety of flavors from fresh fruits and nuts from Drama and Argolis.
In “Eutopia” (as they read their own e-utopia), the fall will be organized tasting sessions, as through their aspirations is the acquaintance of the public with the producers.
A new food store that hosts Greek producers, is the chance to see once again that quality is recognized and that the reputation of “quality so expensive” is placed little by little into the correct dimensions by the public.
