Stevia and agave
Stevia is a natural sweetener that replaces sugar for patients with diabetes. It is a tiny bush originated from Latin America. Stevia exists in our country, on farms of Thessalia and Macedonia. The leaves of Stevia contain several natural sweeteners that make it 300 times sweeter than table sugar. Leaves are dried and then dipped in water to release the sweet components, which are isolated by techniques such as crystallization and cleaned up to give the desired product.
Agave is nothing else than the cacti plant from which we get and tequila. The agave nectar is sweeter than honey but thanks to its low glycemic index, it causes sudden changes in the levels of blood sugar. In case of sugar, you need almost 3 times higher quantity.
